Project overview

Work shaped by place and purpose.

The Panigan–Tamugan Watershed is a 13,988-hectare subwatershed within the Davao River Basin, characterized by varied topography ranging from flat and gently undulating terrain to moderately steep and very steep slopes. Apo Agua Infrastructura Inc. (AAII) engaged Ove Arup & Partners Hong Kong Ltd. – Philippines Branch (Arup) to undertake environmental and social assessments, identify watershed-related risks, and develop a practical, long-term framework for watershed preservation and management. Arup was approved by the Watershed Management Council (WMC) to conduct the Watershed Baselining Study through Resolution No. 04, Series of 2020. Galerio Environmental Consultancy (GEC), serving as Arup's sub-consultant, was assigned to undertake field investigations and technical studies within the watershed. The technical study involved gathering and assessing primary and secondary data across multiple environmental and socio-economic disciplines. Its findings provided the technical foundation for the preparation of the Panigan–Tamugan Watershed Management Plan, supporting informed decision-making, watershed protection, and sustainable resource management.
